Why local matters in Glasgow

Glasgow’s housing — and why it matters

Glasgow has more housing variety than anywhere else I work. Each type needs its own approach:

• Sandstone tenements (east end, west end, southside): tall, narrow windows, often 4 storeys + dormer, careful frame attention, pollution staining around the lower floors
• Victorian and Edwardian terraces (Dennistoun, Shawlands, Strathbungo): big sash windows, ornate stonework, careful approach to original features
• Post-war semis and bungalows (Easterhouse, Pollok, Castlemilk): standard layouts, perfect for water-fed pole, common driveway pressure-wash bookings
• 1960s-80s estates (Drumchapel, Garthamlock): bigger window areas, plenty of fascia and soffit work
• New-build detached (Bishopbriggs, Stepps, Baillieston, Robroyston): conservatories common, solar panels increasingly so, often the customers who book multiple services together
• Modern flats (Merchant City, west end developments): usually limited to ground-floor exterior — but still part of what I cover

Why tap water leaves spots

Glasgow’s water comes off Loch Katrine and is some of the softest in the country — but soft is not the same as empty. There are still minerals dissolved in it, and a bucket of soapy water adds detergent on top. When the water dries, all of that stays on the glass. That is what the spots are, and it is why my pure water system matters more here than most places. Deionised water has the minerals removed, so it dries with no marks. No streaks. No spots. No “looks worse a day later” experience.

If you’ve ever had a window cleaned that looked great wet and rubbish dry — that was the tap water’s own residue drying onto the pane. Pure water solves it.

Yes. Modern carbon fibre poles reach standard tenement heights from the ground. No ladders, no scaffolding, no hassle for residents.

“My driveway has thick green moss — can pressure washing fix it?”
Yes. Moss comes off in one visit. I’ll show you before/after. The moss will return slowly over 1-2 years, but an annual clean prevents the deep buildup.

“Do you do solar panel cleans in Glasgow?”
Yes — and I do them properly. Pure water only, no detergent residue. Most domestic arrays take an hour or two.

“Is pressure washing safe on Victorian sandstone?”
With the right pressure and the right technique, yes. Cheap pressure washing CAN damage sandstone — I use a calibrated approach that’s safe on the surface. Not all cleaners do this carefully.

“Are you insured?”
Fully. Public liability + employer’s liability. Happy to send certificates for commercial clients before booking.

“Same-day quotes?”
